Medium Hashi Puzzles
MediumThe everyday Hashi challenge — satisfying and substantive
Medium Hashi puzzles require you to chain deductions: a bridge here tells you something about a bridge there, which then resolves an island across the board. Simple corner and maximum-island rules get you started, but finishing requires keeping track of connectivity — making sure every chain of bridges ultimately links back into the single connected network the rules demand. Medium is where most regular Hashi players live, because it strikes the right balance between approachability and engagement.
Medium puzzles demand more sustained attention than easy ones. You will use the full toolbox: corner analysis, bridge budgeting, connectivity constraints, and occasionally ruling out a placement because it would create an isolated sub-network. The daily puzzle rotation favors medium difficulty on Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday.
Solving Tips for Medium Puzzles
- Watch for near-isolated clusters — a group of islands where the total bridge count nearly equals twice the number of external connections. The connectivity rule often forces a specific bridge outward.
- When two islands have only one bridge path between them, that path must carry a bridge (though you may not know whether it's single or double yet). Mark the connection as "confirmed" and work around it.
- The "reachability test": if removing a tentative bridge would disconnect the solved portion from an unsolved island, that bridge is forced.
